List of Poems of the Month for the School Year

The fish and I are studying one poem each month this year.  To learn more about how we structure this study check out our first “poem” we studied, which was actually the book Chicky Chicky Chook Chook by Cathy MacLennan.

Our plan for the school year is:

September: Chicky Chicky Chook Chook by: Cathy MacLennan

October: The Wind and the Leaves by: George Cooper

November: Who Likes The Rain? by: Clara Doty Bates

December: The Minstrels by: William Wordsworth  Note: This poem was written in the mid 1800s and I had to provide the boys with lots of vocabulary support, but they still enjoyed it as much as the other poems so far.

January:  Falling Snow

February: Abraham Lincoln by: Mildred Plew Meigs

March: My Shadow by: Robert Louis Stevenson

April: Good Morning Merry Sunshine

May: Where Go The Boats? by: Robert Louis Stevenson

Our artwork for Falling Snow contained before and after scenes, where the viewer could peek through “doors” at the before picture.
