The Book about Milton Hershey

The Milton Hershey unit study is based upon the book Who Was Milton Hershey?  This book shares the different businesses Milton Hershey started and what it took to find success. This is a great read aloud for early elementary ages or an independent reading assignment for children in about grades 3-6.  There are two longer books at the bottom of this post if you are looking for something more in-depth.

A Venn diagram to compare Milton Hershey with Willy Wonka.

A writing prompt to help children think about how to turn failures into successes.

Candy Survey: Conduct a survey of people’s favorite candy.  Record data and create a bar graph based upon the data.

Complete the Business Plans: Use math skills to finish the business plans and see how much these children will earn making and selling new candy creations.

Your Business Plan: Now create your own candy creation and design a business plan for it.

Hop  the Kisses: A following direction game.  Players can read the directions to work on reading comprehension or someone else can read the direction out loud to work on listening skills.
